How do I know if my AC needs a gas refill?
An AC does not use up its gas. If it is low, there is a leak. Signs are weak cooling with the fan running normally, frost or ice on the pipes of the indoor or outdoor unit, and a hissing sound. A technician checks the pressure with a gauge before filling, and repairs the leak first.

Why a refill without a leak repair is money lost
The gas in an AC circulates in a sealed loop. If it has gone down, it has escaped somewhere. Filling it again without fixing that point means it will escape again, sometimes within weeks.

Questions
How long does a gas refill take?
It depends on where the leak is. A leak at a joint is quicker to fix than one inside the indoor coil. The technician tells you what the job involves before starting.
Which gas does my AC use?
Newer ACs mostly use R32 or R410A, and older ones R22. The gas type is printed on the sticker on the outdoor unit. The technician fills the same gas your AC was made for.
Do you refill inverter ACs?
