Can you repair a Sony LED TV that has sound but no picture?
Often, yes. Sound with a dark screen usually means the backlight has failed, and that can be repaired by replacing the LED strips. We are not Sony's authorised service centre, so if your TV is under Sony's warranty, check with Sony's own service first.

Backlight, board or panel
An LED TV has three main parts that fail: the power board, the main board and the screen. The screen itself is a panel lit from behind by strips of small LEDs. When those LEDs fail, the screen goes dark or patchy, while sound still works. Replacing the strips is a common repair.
If the panel is cracked or has a fault inside it, it usually has to be replaced, and on many TVs a new panel costs close to a new TV. In that case the technician tells you plainly, so you do not spend money on a repair that is not worth it.
Before you book
We are not Sony's authorised service centre. If your TV is under Sony's warranty, Sony's own service may repair it free, so check that first. For older TVs, book a visit. The technician checks the TV at your home and tells you the price before any work.
Questions
How do I check whether my Sony TV backlight has failed?
Switch the TV on in a dark room and shine a phone torch close to the screen. If you can faintly see the picture, the backlight has most likely failed and the panel is fine.
Do you repair Sony OLED TVs?
We repair LED TVs. OLED screens have no backlight, and a faulty OLED panel usually has to be replaced. Call us and we will tell you honestly if we can help.
Can you mount my Sony TV on the wall?
Yes. We check the wall, fit a bracket for your TV's size and weight, and tidy the cables where we can.
