Common Whirlpool fridge and washer jobs
Most of the Whirlpool calls we get are for refrigerators and washing machines. In fridges, the usual faults are weak cooling, ice building up behind the freezer panel, water under the vegetable tray, and a fridge that runs all the time. The cause is often a defrost part, a fan, a thermostat or a blocked drain, and sometimes a gas leak or the compressor.
In washing machines, the usual faults are no draining, no spinning, a loud noise during spin, or water not coming in. These are often a blocked drain pump or pipe, a worn belt or clutch on top loaders, or a faulty inlet valve.
If it is under warranty
We are not Whirlpool's authorised service centre. If your appliance is under Whirlpool's warranty, Whirlpool's own service may repair it free, so check that first. Fridge compressors often have a longer warranty than the rest of the fridge, so check the card even if the fridge is a few years old.
Questions
My Whirlpool fridge cools at the top but not at the bottom. Why?
In frost-free fridges, cold air is blown down from the freezer. If ice has blocked the air path or the fan has stopped, the lower part stays warm. This is usually a defrost or fan fault, not gas.
Can you fix a Whirlpool top load washer that will not spin?
Usually, yes. First check that the lid is fully shut and the load is not all on one side. If it still will not spin, the cause is often the drain, the lid switch, the belt or the motor.
Do you change Whirlpool water purifier filters?
Yes. We change filters and membranes on Whirlpool purifiers and tell you which parts are worn before changing them.
